Care for your jewellery

Our precious jewelry is much like our most cherished relationships - a little bit of love and care can go a long way.

Regular maintenance is the key to keeping its sparkle, lustre, beauty and life.

To ensure that your LI-HONG JADE jewelry remains in its best possible condition over an extended period of time, please observe the following care advice below:

General storage

Ensure that your jewelry is thoroughly dry before storing them.

Ensure all unworn jewelry is stored away from direct sunlight, moisture or heat and dusty environment.

Always keep your jewelry in a box with velvet or satin lining, and padding to protect them from damages.

Always store each of your jewelry pieces separately in the zip lock bag to prevent scratches due to contact.

Treat them tenderly and be careful not to drop or scratch it against hard surfaces.

Wearing

Avoid wearing your jewelry during exercise or when doing vigorous chores.

Jewelry can be affected from exposure to the chemicals and alcohol in your beauty products.

As a precaution, remove your jewelry when applying perfumes, lotions or other cosmetic products that contain chemicals.

If possible, put on your jewelry as the final adornment when dressing.

Never wear your jewelry in the shower or in a swimming pool. The chlorine content in the water, particularly at high temperatures, will permanently damage or discolour the jewelry over time.

When putting on or removing a jadeite bangle or a hololith ring, always sit on soft ground to prevent breakage due to mishap dropping.

Care for Jadeite Jade

At LI-HONG JADE, we only work with Type A Jadeite jade, a 100% natural Jadeite Jade originated from Myanmar.

Type A Jadeite jade is not subject to any form of chemical or colour treatment to enhance its colour and translucency.

For Jadeite jade with carving:

To maintain its lustre, use a damp cloth and mild soap to lightly wipe away body oils and dirt on the jade and dry it with a lint-free, 100%-cotton cloth. Use a soft brush to gently clean hard-to-get areas.

For Jadeite jade with settings:

Use a soft brush to gently clean claws and grooves, rinse under running warm water and dry it with a lint-free, 100%-cotton cloth. The brushing will lightly wipe away the body oils and dirt on the jadeite jewelry.

Treat your Jadeite jewelry with love and care. Be careful not to drop it, knock it, or scratch it against hard surfaces. Despite their hardness, Jadeite are still susceptible to scratches, chipping or breaking. Store individual jewelry pieces separately in a zip lock bag to prevent scratches due to contact.

Care for gemstones

Despite their hardness, gemstones are still susceptible to scratches, chipping or breaking. Store individual jewelry pieces separately in a zip lock bag to prevent scratches due to contact.

Limit exposure to chemicals, water, and direct sunlight as these can damage the gemstones and cause some to turn paler over time. The build-up of hand creams, fingerprints, dust or grime can also dull the brilliance of the stones, but this can be solved by cleaning it with a lint-free, 100%-cotton cloth.

Caring for pearls

Pearls are resilient and meant to be worn, but they are also delicate and require proper care. They have a natural shimmering iridescence and lustre to them. As such, it is especially useful to follow the guidelines below.

Pearls are organic gemstones that are vulnerable to acid, alkaline and extremes of humidity. To preserve your pearls' radiance, avoid letting them come into contact with cosmetics, hair spray, or perfume.

Pearl can by exposure to the chemicals and alcohol in your beauty products. As a precaution, remove your pearl when applying perfumes, lotions or other cosmetic products that contain chemicals.

If possible, always put on your jewelry as a final touch, after applying make-up and styling hair.

The pearl's lustre can also be harmed by perspiration. To prevent this, before returning your pearls to the jewelry box, wipe them gently with a soft cloth.

Pearls are exceptionally cohesive and shock-resistant, but may be scratched by contact with sharp objects or other gemstones. To prevent tangles and scratches, lay each item out separately in a compartmentalized jewelry box.

Never store pearls in plastic bags or deposit safes. Plastic bags can emit chemicals that will deteriorate the surface of the pearl, and the ultra-dry air in the security box will dehydrate the pearls.

There is a saying that "pearls want to be worn", and it is true!
